Jeev Milkha Singh wins Singapore Open

SINGAPORE: India's Jeev Milkha Singh won a nail-biting Singapore Open on Sunday after Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els missed putts to take the $5 miJeev Milkha Singh poses with the trophy after winning the Singapore Open golf tournament.

Singh, who virtually sealed the Asian order of merit title with the win, started the day five shots behind leader Chapchai Nirat of Thailand but three birdies on the front nine helped him to the top of the leaderboard at seven-under par.

Three-time major winner Harrington looked certain to force a play-off after a stunning fairway wood gave him the chance of birdie at the last, but the Irishman's five-foot putt leaked across the face of the hole.

"I couldn't have asked for better," the 36-year-old Singh said in a television interview. "I'm a very fortunate man to win. The golfing gods were on my side."

Els moved within a shot of leader Singh with a birdie at the 16th, but a poor tee-shot on 18 left him with too much to do and the South African's birdie putt came up just short.

Chapchai, who fired a spectacular eagle on the par-four 11th to pull two shots clear of the field on Saturday before fading light forced the players off the course, started the final round at 10-under-par, three ahead of local hope Lam Chih Bing.

However, his challenge crumbled with a succession of bogeys and the stocky Thai slumped to a seven-over par 78 for the final round.

World number three Phil Mickelson also had a disappointing fourth round, which included an ugly triple-bogey eight, and finished the tournament six shots behind the winner, while Singapore's Lam carded a shocking 79.

Singh takes home a winner's cheque for $792,500.

10 Holes are up for sale at Rp. 3,500,000 and sponsor of the hole gets a free invitation to play, or nominate another guest. The sponsor deservedly gets a banner on the hole, Logo in the Backdrop as well as
in the brochure. If you are interested in buying the hole, pls let the committee know immediately, alternatively your assistance in getting sponsors is very much needed to complete the event with high grace.

Each participant must have an Invitation and this year is up for grabs at Rp 1 Million for Sunday morning shotgun. All Par 3's are up for Hole in One Shots for major prizes including Cars, Air Tickets and others.....

There is a special prize on 1st Eagle on a par 5 during the event. There are lots of goodies for everyone and gifts to be won besides the Indian Cuisine before and after as well as on the course.

If each of our members get one guest, we will get to over 144 nos in no time. Please assist the committee in getting the invitees.

Dear Members,

Thank you very much for the enthusiasm and participation in the Independence Cup at Cenkareng on the 24th of August.

As usual the Golfing Gods set up a perfect stage for the game. Pleasant weather, good fairways and immaculate greens. The actors, our members put up a great show. Most of them had played exceptionally well, and with every finishing group there would be one more nomination for the Oscar. Aspirations and palpitations went hand in hand.

The Sponsors for the year were also present and all in all we had a very successful event.

Dear Members,

We are now back after rectifying the technical snags on the Bunkers’ Web mailing system.

The last tournament at Permata Sentul on a bright sunny afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by all the participants. The Golf course was in good shape and the game was on Cruise Controls. A beautiful Golf venue with “no waiting” was a pleasure.

The winners were all neck to neck and the decision was on the Count Back.
