Gentlemen,

The Monthly Medal was held on the 21st of June at Matowa Golf Club, a great course on a pleasantly warm day.

The winners were:

Best Nett 1 : Mr. Baldev Gill HC 9 Gross 78 Nett: 69
Best Nett 2 : Mr. Raman Srinivasan HC 14 Gross 84 Nett: 70

Our winner, Mr. Gill, played admirable and enviable golf even at the age of 70.

Many of our members are on vacation because of which the participation was on a low key. The bright side of the vacation was that the fathers had an opportunity to collect brownie points by bringing their sons along to play. Amongst these young men was Manick, son of Onkar Bagga, who represents his school in Golf and has played at inter - country school leauges. Ram Subramaniam's son, Rishi, is an enthusiastic golfer as well and Amit Canumalla's daughter also has the distinction of representing her school in Golf at an international level. Raju Vijaywargiyas' sons are regular at the golf courses during vacations and very soon Raju will have competition at home. We expect many more member's children to join us in the coming years, and we encourage the "younger" ( the "young" being us) generation to play in the club alongwith their fathers.

We request our members to avoid cancellations as this results into a lot of changes. All those members who confirm and do not bother to even intimate about the cancellation need to appreciate the fact that this causes delays in the tee off, the club pays damages to the golf course, and the other members who report on time are unnecessarily delayed. A couple of "no shows" can perfectly ruin the day for 30 golfers.

Happy Holidays & Golfing !!

Dear Members, I recd this email from our ex member Mr. Amar Sinha (he is currently Indian Ambassador in Tajikistan)with a request to post it on our website. Hope you will like it. Rgds Raju

"Hi Raju,
How are you doing? Hope you are in top shape and great golf form.

I am enclosing a very nice poem on golf which you may consider posting on the Bunker’s website.. for the enjoyment of all golfers..

To all Golfers and their spouses . It will make you proud

A GOLF POEM

In My Hand I Hold A Ball,
White And Dimpled, Rather Small.
Oh, How Bland It Does Appear,
This Harmless Looking Little Sphere..
By It's Size I Could Not Guess,
The Awesome Strength It Does Possess.
But Since I Fell Beneath Its Spell,
I've Wandered Through The Fires Of Hell.
My Life Has Not Been Quite The Same,
Since I Chose To Play This Stupid Game.
It Rules My Mind For Hours On End,
A Fortune It Has Made Me Spend.
It Has Made Me Yell, Curse And Cry,
I Hate Myself And Want To Die.
It Promises A Thing Called Par,
If I Can Hit It Straight And Far.
To Master Such A Tiny Ball,
Should Not Be Very Hard At All.
But My Desires The Ball Refuses,
And Does Exactly As It Chooses.
It Hooks And Slices, Dribbles And Dies,
And Even Disappears Before My Eyes.
Often It Will Have A Whim,
To Hit A Tree Or Take A Swim.
With Miles Of Grass On Which To Land,
It Finds A Tiny Patch Of Sand.
Then Has Me Offering Up My Soul,
If Only It Would Find The Hole.
It's Made Me Whimper Like A Pup,
And Swear That I Will Give It Up.
And Take To Drink To Ease My Sorrow,
But The Ball Knows ... I'll Be Back Tomorrow.

Stand proud you noble swingers of clubs and losers of balls....
A recent study found the average golfer walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study found golfers drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a Year.
That means, on average, golfers get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Kind of makes you proud.. Almost feel like a hybrid..

Dear Members,

We deeply appreciate the support and enthusiasm shown by all of you.

The 1st Tournament of the year was at Sentul Highlands on the 10th of May, with 36 participants.

The afternoon round went off smooth as silk. A threat of heavy downpour, thunder and lightning.
But, our Indian Pawangs ( rain men) cast their spell and "Presto", it was pleasant golfing weather. The rain and clouds were pushed far away into the Indian Ocean.

The event was a Two Ball Team format. New members, Mr. Rajeev Jain and Mr. Vivek Sood had also joined us.

Winners of the event are:

Sanjeev Wadhwa & Raman Tata
Raghu Bathi and Anil Punjabi
Pradeep Sainani and Onkar Singh Bagga.

The next event, venue and date shall be announced shortly, wherein we hope to see all our members participate.

Golfing Is Fun !!!

TECH TALK: This cast club incorporates several hallmarks of X-series irons, such as a variable-thickness face and a 360-degree undercut channel that aids in the location of the center of gravity (CG). The Tru-Bore hosel has a polycarbonate tip for vibration control.

PLAYER COMMENTS: (M) "I could hit these blindfolded. Sign me up right now." . . . (M) "I was smoking the 3-iron. I can't remember the last time I was able to do that.". . . (T) "You can get forgiveness on just about every shot. That's cool." . . . (T) "Doesn't dig, yet doesn't look boxy -- a rare combination."

HOT: The cavity gel enhances this classic design and improves the feel, something that any caliber player can appreciate. The "standard" and "low" bounce options are distinct and easily understood.

The legendary performance of the X Series in a iron with even more forgiveness.
The goal of our X-Series Irons has always been lofty: Set the performance standard for the industry. We’ve done it again with the best X-Series Irons we’ve ever made. The perimeter weighting has been maximized for a moment of inertia (MOI) that’s 10 percent higher than their predecessors, meaning you get more forgiveness on off-center strikes. The ideal center of gravity position has been preserved, generating optimal ball-flight trajectories. We’ve also incorporated the Modified Tru-Bore design, dampening vibration for enhanced feel. The tour-inspired head shape has a slightly thinner topline and sole with a large sweet spot for improved aesthetics and forgiveness to boost your confidence.

Precision Notch Weighting
Precisely positions more weight to the perimeter of the iron to create a higher moment of inertia (MOI) for greater forgiveness and stability while maintaining the center of gravity position that produces ideal trajectories and feel.

Tour-Inspired Head Shape
Our engineers took elements designed for Tour players, like a thinner top line and narrower sole, and incorporated them into highly forgiving irons with a higher MOI so they can be played by a wide range of golfers.

VFT Technology
VFT Technology maximizes ball speed and perimeter weighting for more distance and forgiveness; S2H2 increases discretionary weight by removing it from the hosel and repositioning it in the perimeter of the clubhead; 360-Degree Undercut Channel maximizes perimeter weighting by moving the CG lower and farther back in the clubhead, enlarging the hitting area and stabilizing the clubhead for more forgiveness.

* A ball hit to the wrong green will always land two feet from the hole. Except occasionally when it lands in the hole!
A lady played a whole round of golf in one stroke. She hit the ball off the number 1 tee, and it landed in the hole on number 18!!
