Persatuan Golf Indonesia (PGI) didirikan di Jakarta pada tanggal 8 April 1966 untuk menghimpun perkumpulan golf di seluruh Indonesia dalam satu wadah.

PGI adalah satu-satunya Organisasi Olahraga yang mengendalikan seluruh kegiatan olahraga golf di seluruh wilayah Indonesia dan merupakan anggota dari organisasi Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia (KONI).

PGI berazaskan sportifitas dan kekeluargaan serta bertujuan memberdayakan perkumpulan- perkumpulan golf di Indonesia untuk meningkatkan mutu dan prestasi olahraga golf bagi yang berstatus Amatir seperti yang didefinisikan oleh the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews dan the United States Golf Association.
